How to process aloe vera – juices and tinctures

Aloe vera

If you are not sure what to do with this potent plant, you can try some of our ideas. Stop buying expensive juices in stores when you can make them at home and rather easily. That goes also for medicinal tinctures, which are also easy to make.

Just remember one thing aloe vera leaves should not be processed immediately after cutting . Leave them resting in a cool environment for at least 24 hours (ideally in your refrigerator) and then you can use them for our recipes. Rested leaves offer higher content of active substances and are simpler to process.

Tinctures can be stored for a long time

If you use wine as a base, you can store your tincture in your refrigerator for several months. If you use pure alcohol to make tinctures they will last you for more than a year. Nevertheless, as with any homemade product, it is advisable to use it as soon as possible. We shall give you a recipe which will improve your digestion and immunity.

Aloe vera tincture to optimize digestion

You will need a bundle of leaves (“so big” that you can hardly wrap fingers of both your hands around it). Place the leaves in a juicer or chop them finely – if you don’t have one. Makes it with 50 grams of honey and 100 ml of alcohol (vodka will do). Let it cool for week and then strain it and store it in a dark glass bottle. Keep it in your refrigerator and take one teaspoon before each meal.

The foundation of the recipe is the same, but mix the obtained juice with a red wine in 1:1ratio and then add 150-200 grams of liquid honey. Mix it all well, pour into a dark glass bottle and enjoy. One glass a day is enough.

Aloe vera juice with honey

Put a large handful of aloe leaves in a juicer (you can also peel them and scoop out the pulp, and then cut them into small pieces). Strain the obtained juice and mix it with 50 grams of honey. Mix it all well and pour it in a dark, well-sealed bottle and store it in your refrigerator. Use 2-3 teaspoons a day. Aloe vera honey juice will last for about a week in the fridge.
