First, we shall inform you that cucumbers are the fourth most cultivated crops on our planet. All kind of veggies are widely recognized as a healthy and highly beneficial food. We all know that. The annual production of cucumbers stands around 45 million tons. The first cucumbers come originally from Thailand, Nepal and northern India. Cucumbers were used by the ancient Greeks and Romans but cucumbers did not reach Europe until the end of the sixteenth century. This has been confirmed in writing.

How do cucumbers benefit us?

Cucumbers are a great source of vitamin B and B12. They also contain proteins, sugars, fibre, provitamin A, vitamins C, E, K, as well as magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, copper, silicon, sulphur, manganese.

Cucumbers help us to hydrate our bodies and provide various nutrients. Almost 96% of cucumber is water and so they contain very few calories while still providing important nutrients. Cucumbers also work as a great natural diuretic – they help eliminate storage of uric acid and promote urine excretion. Cucumbers can help fight kidney and heart problems. People also take cucumbers to flush sand from the kidneys and to help with kidney and gallstones dissolution.

Cucumbers are also great for our skin and hair. Many cosmetic products contain some kind of cucumber extract as cucumbers contain silicon and sulphur; cucumber juice promotes hair growth and elasticity. Cucumber slices make your skin brighter and softer and they soothe inflammation and swelling around the eyes. A cucumber mask is used for all skin types and it is also used to help suppress the appearance cellulite.

Did you know that cucumbers can help you to get rid of bad breath? To do so press a slice of cucumber against the roof of your mouth for about half a minute because cucumber juice kills bacteria in the oral cavity, which is the main cause of bad breath.

Cucumbers are also part of many weight loss diets and it is no surprise because this low-calorie vegetable is full of water and rich in nutrients. A great food for a weight loss programme. Cucumbers also help with body detoxification and cleansing, optimize metabolic processes and can even help you with constipation and diarrhoea.
