Healthy and delicious chips in 5 minutes

Cheese

Do you want something good that you can enjoy and do not feel guilty at the same time? Of course you do! Try our cheese chips. You can eat them in front TV and you do not need to worry about the negative impact on your weight – unless you eat way too many…

You will need just one ingredient and a few minutes of your time – nothing else. The base is grated cheese and the vast majority of us have that at home.

Edam, cheddar or something else?

Remember that the fat content is particularly important. Fat is the “taste carrier” in meats, cheeses and basically in any dishes. You will not be able to make a delicious and satisfying treat out of light cheese or milk substitute. So, get at least 40% fat edam, cheddar, parmesan or any other cheese like that. Here is the recipe.

You will need a grater and baking paper

Grate the cheese finely. You need about 100 grams of grated cheese. You can leave it as it is, or you may use your favourite herbs to enhance the taste. For example, basil, oregano or thyme is great. Line a large baking tray with a baking paper and place little piles of grated cheese on it. Piles should be about one centimetre high with enough space between them – they will spreads a lot when baked.

Five minutes baking

Preheat oven to 200°C and insert the tray. Check after three minutes. If they are golden brown, you are done, otherwise leave them in a while longer – but no more than 5 minutes. If chips are too brown they become bitter and you do not want that. Serve or eat immediately.

If you want to have plenty of chips keep in mind that chips last about three days in the refrigerator in a vacuum sealed container. After that they will start absorbing moisture and they will lose crunchiness. The taste is still great but chips should be crunchy. Better to make a fresh batch every time.
