When it comes to losing weight many of us knows what the main enemy is. Sugar. No question about that and it is no secret that many fruit contain more sugar than we would like to admit. Yes, fruit also contain fibre and other beneficial elements, but again, high sugar contents is not exactly good for a weight reduction diet.

But do not despair. There are types of fruit that you can eat without worries. Some of them may surprise you.

Grapefruit – a great weight loss fruit

It tastes little bit sour/bitter, but if you take the trouble and peel off the bitter white membranes, you will be pleasantly surprised by its refreshing taste. It contains almost 0 calories and plenty of vitamins C and A. It will also help you to reduce cholesterol in your bloodstream.

Another fruit from the citrus category you can eat with almost no worries are oranges.

Forest mix aka berries

Raspberries, currants, blackberries, blueberries… All of them are a great source of antioxidants and many beneficial vitamins. They have a low glycemic index (it does not matter which one you choose), help you to regulate high blood pressure, cholesterol and are often included in many weight loss diets.

Apples may help to lose weight

Apples are great, especially if they come from your own garden because they supply your body with much-needed fibre. Fibre reduces early hunger and prolongs the feeling of being full. Now you know why there is an apple diet but be careful, because you should definitely opt for more variety. Not just apples.

What other fruits can you enjoy without feeling guilty?

Well, there are many fruits suitable for weight loss programmes, such as melons, pineapple, passion fruit, avocado or kiwi. Of course, the rule of thumb says that everything should be taken in moderation. The most important thing is to focus on your daily intake of carbohydrates. Your body can deal with carbohydrates, especially during morning hours when you can burn the extra energy easier.
