Things to do in August. Saw vegetables and get new strawberry rhizomes and maintain your garden

Vegetables

During the summer months, specifically around mid-August, you are in your garden every day. And not only to enjoy but to work too. If you want to get ahead but you are not exactly sure what to do first, we shall help you out or rather the lunar calendar will. There are many gardeners who follow the lunar calendar strictly because it tells them what to do on which day.

August 10th

The moon is in the sign of Cancer. Loosen up the soil around leafy greens and mow lawn regularly. These are tasks that are ideal to do on august 10th. Leafy greens require care so get a hoe and get to work. While you are at it you need to remove weeds of course.. Now, you need to take care of your lawn. Mow it. You can mow a bit lower this time to keep it perfect for longer.

August 11th – August 13th

The moon is in the sign of Leo. Continue loosening soil around plants. Collect fallen fruit. If you grow leeks, you should cover the veggie bed with a non-woven fabric to protect it from insect. This will help your plants, specifically vegetables.

August 14 th – August 16 th

The moon is in the sign of Virgo. Plant biennial flowers. You can also sow Chinese cabbage, black root, radish or winter onion. Now is also a good time to do cuttings and separate them from the mother plant. Plant new plants in pots or in permanent locations to give them enough time to create a strong root ball. This is the time when the next phase of growth starts. Sow plants that should be sown at this time and take care of them so they take root well.
