Want lots of tomatoes? Try using homemade fertilizer for your plants

Tomatoes

Many of us are already looking forward to summer, when we’ll be harvesting lots of different vegetables from our gardens. Tomatoes are undoubtedly the most commonly grown vegetable in our climate. Growing them is very simple, and a harvest is practically guaranteed. Red tomatoes often appear even on plants that grow wild without much care. Still, it’s worth taking care of the tomato seedlings themselves. They’ll be much stronger and grow into large plants that produce plenty of beautiful tomatoes. They definitely deserve some fertilizer. Which kind? Homemade, of course!

Strengthening the seeds before sowing pays off

We can strengthen the tomato seeds even before sowing. Ideally, we do this by spraying them with iodine. Just one drop of iodine per 3 liters of water is enough. Mix everything together, fill the spray bottle, and spray the seeds. Nothing complicated. It’s done in a moment. The seedlings will be much stronger, and their development will also be slightly accelerated.

Iodine also protects plants from late blight

Iodine is ideal for this purpose. To achieve the best results, spray the plants once every two weeks. The solution is very easy to prepare. You will need 10 liters of water, 1 liter of milk, and 15 drops of iodine. The plants must be sprayed very thoroughly so that they can then defend themselves against potato blight.

Bay leaves are great as part of fertilizer

Almost everyone has bay leaves in their kitchen. But they don’t have to be used exclusively in various dishes. They also work great as fertilizer. That’s because they contain both vitamins A and B, as well as nicotinic acid. This helps in the development of the root system. Among other things, it provides plants with manganese, iodine, and potassium. B vitamins effectively help plants assimilate carbohydrates. Bay leaves also contain carotene, which fights the growth of pathogens. They can also prevent the spread of black rot.

Making fertilizer is simple

Grind the bay leaves in a grinder and then mix the powder thoroughly into the potting mix. Use this fertilizer once a month. The seedlings will then be strong and the harvest will be maximized.

Tip: A lot of potatoes this season? No problem.
