How to plant roses in the spring
Roses – a great decorative element and the pride of every gardener. Let us take a look at rose planting which can be done both in autumn and spring. We shall look at various tricks and tips including important things that should not be skipped if you want good results – beautiful roses of course.
Planting
As mentioned earlier, you can plant roses in spring or fall. If you are still deciding when, we shall help you out. The vast majority of people plant roses during the autumn, but there is one disadvantage. In locations with freezing weather you never know if your roses survive. So if you live in an area where there is a still a chance that a freezing weather may hit, a spring planting may be a better option. But before you get to planting you must first purchase seedlings. Choose a healthy plant with a properly developed root system, which is the most important part of the plant. Place the plant into a hole about 40 centimetres deep, and approximately 40-50 cm apart. Before planting immerse the roots in water. Buds on the plant should be about 5 cm above the surface. When you finish planting, a good idea is to cover the plant with pine twigs.

Rose propagations
How to propagate roses? It is quite simple really. You may use for example, green cuttings. You can use this method to propagate little miniature roses as well as regular and large roses. Collect cuttings when the plant produces buds. The end of July is the latest time when you can still collect cuttings. And what this procedure involves? Collect the cuttings from the middle of the plant and make sure that each cutting has two leaves. Immerse the bottom of the cutting into a substrate with a growth hormone. This will help the cuttings to sprout roots. The upper bud should be above the substrate. Cuttings should grow in a greenhouse or in a flowerpot covered with foil. Rose propagated in this way does not form any wild shoots or suckers, which is the biggest advantage.
Pets
Like all plants, also roses are susceptible to pests and diseases. For example, powdery mildew (Erysiphales) is very common. So how do we ? Well, there are products such as Sulikol, Saprol or Topas. that you can use. You can tell that your plant has been infected by this disease when you see floury coating on leaves. Another unpleasant pets that attack roses are mites and aphids. But there are also chemicals that you can use to fight them. Yet another disease creates black spots on leaves. This usually happens when fertilizer gets on leaves, so be careful when applying fertilizers.
