Great organic fertilizer that you can use throughout the year
An organic and environment-friendly fertilizer? Yes, it is called compost, which contains organic waste only. Composting is a great way to dispose of all green and other natural waste produced in your kitchen or in your garden. In doing so, you will obtain a high-quality compost that significantly improves the quality of soil. Here are simple tips how to make a great compost and how to use it in your garden.
Plant residues and other green waste
Compost is a mixture of plant residues that are constantly decomposing and can be used as a nutritious source throughout the entire year. It contains a large amount of minerals and supplements from plant residues and other organic materials. You can also compost waste from fruits, vegetables and shrubs including ornamental plants. However, if you use organic material in your composter make sure you do not see any mould or signs of other diseases. The following materials you may add to your composter:
- small twigs or damaged bark
- certain weed plants
- vegetable scraps (peelings, natural products and vegetable leftovers and other food, eggshells)
- dried annual plants

Composter location
Make sure to place your composter away from main paths or flower beds. A suitable area is a secluded section of your garden in a partial shade. Not too much sunlight. A good idea is to protect the composter container from strong winds using metal or wood sheets. The temperature inside the composter must be between 10-30 °C. You can speed up the decomposition by using small pieces as they deteriorate quicker. The process usually takes up to 12 months. A good idea is to have an electric plug lektroměrový rozvaděč, near, which allows you to use an electric shredder.
Fully matured compost is used as a substrate, mulch or fertilizer. You can use this fertilizer basically for all plants such as vegetables, ornamental plants or fruit-producing trees. You can tell that your compost has matured enough if it has the typical matte and brown colour and natural earthy aroma. The great advantage of compost is that you cannot over fertilize, which is definitely not true for chemically modified fertilizers!
Organic fertilizers offer clear benefits and if you do not have a composter in your garden, you should make one as soon as possible!
