Many delicious recipes require the use of a baking powder, but we all know that baking powder offers a number of properties that you may utilize in various household projects and tasks. Baking powder is a great improvement for all kinds of cleaning, pest control and beauty care projects.

The range of use is really wide. Below are some applications and uses that you probably have not heard of before.

Gap cleaning

Use baking powder mixed with water in 1:1 ratio and you have an indispensable grout line and gap cleaner. Add few drops of lemon juice and apply to gaps, wait 15 minutes and start cleaning. Clean the gap with a sponge and rinse with water.

Clean your washing machine

Pour a few packets of baking powder (or baking soda) in an empty drum of your washing machine and select the longest and hottest cycle. This procedure will get rid of odours and dirt.

Eliminate unpleasant odours in your fridge

Baking powder is a great odour absorber. Pour baking powder into a container and place it in the refrigerator or where you want to eliminate unpleasant odours.

Rust removal

Yes, baking powder will also help you to remove rust stains. First, soak rusty spots in vinegar. Take a toothbrush and sprinkle it with baking powder and start rubbing. Rusty spots will disappear quickly!

Grease and mould removal

Baking powder also works against mould and grease. Mix it with water to make a thick paste, and apply to the areas where you noticed mould or grease. Let the paste work for a while and then wash it off.
