Great yields. How to feed tomatoes with homemade ingredients

Tomatoes

When you grow tomatoes, you naturally want to get the highest yield possible. It doesn’t matter whether you give the surplus to your neighbors and friends, make delicious ketchup, or dry the tomatoes. There are many alternatives, and many of us grow these wonderful sweet red fruits because you can make practically anything from them. But things don’t always work out. Tomatoes need a lot of nutrients. If we provide them with these, we can be sure that they will thrive. In most cases, we can make do with ordinary ingredients that we usually have at home.

Yeast as a great stimulant

If you want to use a classic homemade fertilizer for tomatoes, don’t be afraid of ordinary yeast. We can prepare fertilizer from it in a simple way. We will need:

  • A classic small package of yeast,
  • 2.5 liters of water,
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar.

Pour the water into a 3-liter container. Ideally, it should be settled or distilled water. It simply must not contain chlorine. Dissolve the yeast in warm water and add it to the container with water and sugar. Cover the container with a cloth and leave the mixture to ferment in a warm place overnight. Mix one cup of the mixture in 10 liters of water and pour it over the tomatoes. Ideally, repeat the cycle three times per season: at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end of the season.

Iodine is also useful

Undoubtedly. We can make a great vitamin bomb in a very simple way. Add 10 drops of iodine to 10 liters of water. You can buy it at any pharmacy. Each tomato bush will need 0.5 liters of the solution once a week. It is definitely worth waiting a while for the results.

Even ordinary garlic can help tomatoes

Exactly. There is no need to worry about garlic either. Crush 5 cloves of garlic and pour hot water over them. Leave them to work for a while in a warm place. Then mix a teaspoon of this solution with a liter of water and water the tomatoes once a week. Nothing complicated.

Tip: We have written about garlic planting in the past.
