Use oats to restart your houseplants

Do you feel that you houseplants are beyond saving and fear that you need to throw them away? Well, do not do that because there may still be a chance. You do not need any magic potions or anything like that. You can “rescue” them using ordinary ingredients that you probably have in your house anyway. Ordinary oats. Yes. You can use oats to prepare a life booster for your wilted houseplants.

Oats are full of nutrients

That is definitely true as oats contain many substances important for houseplants. Here we have listed only few of them:

  • potassium,
  • magnesium,
  • iron,
  • phosphorus,
  • calcium
  • and others.

Houseplants also get the necessary nitrogen from oats. When you mix oats with microorganisms in soil you create a very complex fertilizer.

Making a fertilizer from oats

Nothing complicated. You only need a few basic ingredients:

  • half a cup of oatmeal,
  • 1 litre of water.

Take half a cup of oats and pour it into a container and add water. Let the mixture infuse for 30 minutes and then strain it. Dilute the liquid with water and 1:4 ratio.

Pour the life booster on the plant

Yes. Pour it all over the plant. The mixture should reach flowers and the roots. This elixir will help even the most wilted flowers and they should start recovering and eventually, the entire plant should get stronger and start flowering again.
