The raspberry bushes need some homemade fertilizer. We made it ourselves
Delicious, sweet raspberries are definitely worth it. We can enjoy plenty of them—provided we take proper care of the raspberry bushes before the season starts, which is now, in April. Pruning is a given, but we shouldn’t forget to fertilize the raspberries either. It is precisely thanks to this that raspberry bushes can produce plenty of delicious sweet fruit. In the following lines, we will focus on organic fertilization of raspberry bushes using materials we all have at home.
Raspberries love acidic soil
Exactly. Raspberries are among the fruits that require conditions very similar to those of blueberries, for example. In fact, it’s also worth adding peat to the soil for blueberries to create their natural environment. Raspberries also like plenty of sun, so they should be grown in an unshaded area. We don’t need to add peat to raspberries; ordinary coffee grounds will do just fine.

Coffee grounds will do the trick
The waste we usually throw in the trash can be a great help when growing raspberries. Among other things, coffee grounds contain a fairly substantial amount of nitrogen, which promotes raspberry growth. Using coffee grounds is very simple. First, we need to dry them thoroughly to prevent any mold growth. Then mix it thoroughly with the top layer of soil. You can fertilize blueberries in a similar way. Combined with rain and watering, the raspberries will grow perfectly. They’ll set fruit on the canes, and the harvest will be excellent.

Even ordinary rice can help
We also tried rice fertilizer, which helped increase the yield of the raspberry bushes. Rice contains many beneficial substances, including magnesium, calcium, potassium, and phosphorus. Rice fertilizer can improve the plants’ immunity. It also positively affects the number and size of the fruits. We made the fertilizer very simply. We took a handful of rice and put it in a pot with a liter of water. We let it sit for an hour and then strained it. We then added one tablespoon of sugar to the water, which dissolved. Each bush then received a liter of this fertilizer.
