Are the flowers on your cucumber plants turning into fruit yet? Try this homemade elixir for a bountiful harvest
Are the flowers on your cucumber plants turning into fruit yet? If so, it’s time to pay close attention. You can actually help your cucumbers—and quite significantly. All you need to do is make a very simple fertilizer from milk. We all have that at home. It can do wonders for your cucumbers. If you don’t believe it, keep reading. In the following lines, we’ll take a much closer look at this milk-based fertilizer. You can make it just as easily as we did.
A simple homemade elixir for cucumbers
Preparing this fertilizer for cucumbers is absolutely trivial. We only needed two ingredients. Specifically, 1 liter of milk and 10 liters of water. The only thing to watch out for is that neither the water nor the milk is ice-cold. Cucumbers don’t like the cold. So if you have milk from the fridge, you should mix it with room-temperature water. Mix both ingredients thoroughly—it’s worth the effort. The fertilizer should have a whitish color. Just be careful with a higher milk concentration, as this could increase the acidity of the solution.

How to use milk fertilizer for cucumbers?
It’s absolutely simple. Just pour it directly onto the roots of each seedling. The fertilizer is very nutritious, so you can be sure it will work. You also don’t need to worry that the plants might get burned or that you might harm them in any other way. And the amount? Ideally, apply one liter of fertilizer in the morning or evening.
Why milk, specifically?
There are several reasons. After all, our parents told us that milk is healthy and we should drink it regularly. The same applies to plants. It contains several important trace elements and is also rich in potassium, magnesium, and calcium. It also perfectly conditions the soil for plants. Among other things, it prevents mold, which is unfortunately an inevitable part of growing cucumbers.
