Orchids that bloom year-round? Yes, all you need to do is give them a cup of potting mix once a month

Orchids

Growing orchids is a hobby for many of us. These beautiful plants undoubtedly belong on every windowsill and show just how beautiful, cozy, and vibrant a home can be. The rich colors of orchid blooms are stunning and add another dimension to any space. But these plants don’t always have to be covered in beautiful flowers. That’s why we’re looking at some interesting tips that can help them bloom year-round. We can help them with an excellent organic fertilizer that we can make practically for free.

Beet fertilizer is great

Beets are an excellent superfood. But they’re not just for eating. They’re also excellent as an ingredient in a solution to promote orchid growth and flowering. It’s very easy to make. You will need:

– 1 medium-sized beetroot weighing about 30 grams,

– 1 liter of water.

Preparing organic fertilizer for orchids from beetroot is simple. Slice the beetroot and then pour a liter of water over it. Blend the mixture thoroughly. Then strain it through a sieve so that only the colored water remains.

Apply the fertilizer to both the leaves and the roots

That’s right. Simply soak a cotton swab in the fertilizer and then wipe the plant’s leaves on both sides with it. Then pour the beet juice into a spray bottle and thoroughly spray the plant. Once you’re done, wipe the plant dry and pour the juice around the plant’s roots. Of course, you’ll need to place a saucer under the pot.

Rice fertilizer is also excellent

We can make this fertilizer for just a few cents, and it works perfectly. It also protects orchids from various pests. To prepare the fertilizer, we’ll need:

– 5 tablespoons of rice,

– 500 ml of settled water.

Pour the rice into a bowl and cover with water. Stir thoroughly and then strain through a sieve. Apply it in the same way as the beetroot fertilizer. Protection of orchids against diseases and insects is guaranteed.
