What should you do when you meet straight dog?

Dog

Well, not every dog that looks neglected may be abandoned. But how can you tell for sure? One way is to watch the dog for 10 to 15 minutes and see whether his owner arrives. The owner may be chatting with a friend and may have lost a track of time or the owner was not able to keep up with the dog. While you observing the dog pay attention whether he behaves strangely are not. Does it act aggressively or show any sign of illness? If the owner does not appear after while, you should take additional steps.

Finding the owner

If you know the dog, and of course the owner, you may take it home yourself or contact the owner. If you do not know the dog but it behaves friendly, check the collar for contact information. Call the number or contact the owner. If you cannot find contact information or the dog is behaving aggressively, call the police.

City police or other authority

Call authorities when you cannot do anything. You may take a good behaving dog directly to the appropriate authority or institution. If you deal with an aggressive dog the authority will come and deal with the situation. First, they will check whether the dog has a tracking chip or not. If so, they retrieve the information and call the owner. However, if the dog has no chip (which should be a rare case these days) and the owner cannot be found, you can keep the dog providing that no one claims ownership within two months. If you cannot keep the dog, the police will bring it to a dog shelter. If no owner claims the dog within four months, the shelter will keep it.

Caring for a dog

Some people think that shelters are stressful for dogs and even if they cannot keep the dog, they will provide it with a temporary shelter, and while they have the dog, they keep searching for the dog’s owner. Social networks are a great way to do that. You can upload a photo of the dog and wait for response. You have a pretty good chance that the photo or the information will reach the owner or someone who knows the owner. You can also put up information posters in the area where you live. The Civil Code states that the finder is entitled to a finder’s fee plus any costs the finder may have incurred.
