How to care for petunias that do not look well.
Petunias (Petunia x hybrida) are annuals with pendulous shoots. The first varieties were bred in Japan using genetic engineering techniques and appeared in Europe in the late 1990s but today, petunias are one of the most popular plants in Europe and people grow them on balconies and terraces.
Some varieties produce shoots that can reach a length of up to 2 meters but the beauty is in flowers, which come in many colours, starting with white through yellow, orange, red, pink, blue, purple, burgundy and even black. Well, almost black.
Best place to grow petunias
Petunias need plenty of light and can handle full sun, even during hot summer days when most other plants struggle to survive. If you provide petunias with proper lighting conditions, they will produce plenty of flowers The best place to plant petunias is southern, southeastern or possibly southwestern side, which gets plenty of sunlight.

When the end of summer approaches, these beautiful plants start to lose their attractive appearance. But do not despair. The solution is simple. Shorten all shoots by a third to a half and petunias will grow and bloom again.
Do you want to grow petunias in a box?
