Supporting garlic seedlings with garlic. Preparing the spray is easy
The seedlings are now growing in full swing, and we’re already preparing many of them for planting outdoors. The last frosts are likely to hit this week, so it’s a good idea to put them in the garden beds. Ideally, we should treat the seedlings thoroughly beforehand to help them grow. We can do this using a special garlic spray, which we can make very easily. How? We’ll explain that in much more detail below.
Garlic as an antibiotic for plants
Garlic esters are literally miraculous. They are highly effective at repelling insects and protecting plants from potential fungal diseases. Garlic falls into the category of natural insecticides known for their effectiveness against insects, mites, and ants. If we need to boost the immunity of seedlings, this is a unique opportunity. It is a purely natural pesticide and insecticide. Thanks to garlic, plants are also much more resistant to stress. Garlic can also attract beneficial insects.

Simple preparation of garlic spray
Nothing could be simpler. Just prepare 3 cloves of garlic and half a liter of water. Either chop the garlic into small pieces or simply crush it. Then add it to the water and let it sit in a cool place for 3 days. The refrigerator is ideal, of course, but not necessary. It’s still quite cool outside. Pour the strained solution into a spray bottle and spray it onto the leaves of the seedlings.
Garlic Infusion Against Soil Pests
Garlic infusion is particularly effective against larvae. Pour it over the seedlings to protect them thoroughly. You’ll need one head of garlic and one liter of water. Let it steep for 24 hours, then strain it. Then mix it with water in a 1:3 ratio (more water), and water the plants at the roots once a week or once every 14 days.
Tip: New garlic storage methods? We have them.
Garlic spray with milk
If you also want to combat powdery mildew and other fungi, you can use milk as well. For the spray, you’ll need 5 cloves of garlic, half a liter of water, and half a liter of milk—ideally whole milk. Blend the garlic with the water and add the milk. Spray the plants with this mixture once a week.
