Forget about sugary juices. Homemade watermelon lemonade is better
Hot summer days are here again. Staying properly hydrated is undoubtedly part of that. You should simply drink enough fluids each day—ideally water. But not everyone finds water particularly appealing. Children, in particular, would definitely prefer something sweeter. But as parents, we don’t want to give them classic carbonated, sugary sodas. After all, they contain huge amounts of sugar. Children don’t deserve that from a health perspective. So we can prepare a healthy alternative for them.
Excessive sugar intake as a problem
Undoubtedly. Especially with children, this is something you don’t want to give them. Sugar leads not only to hyperactivity in children but also to obesity. Given the amount of sweets they already consume, we’re multiplying their sugar intake through drinks, which isn’t right. Among other things, excessive sugar also hinders the absorption of calcium, which is extremely important for proper bone development. Finally, we can’t forget about tooth decay. That, too, is partly a result of excessive consumption of sweets.

The perfect summer watermelon lemonade
Nothing could be simpler. To make this lemonade, you’ll need the following:
– 1 medium watermelon,
– 5 lemons,
– 500 ml of water,
– 3 tablespoons of honey.
Making the lemonade is simple. Take the watermelon and cut its red flesh into small cubes. You should end up with about 6 cups of these cubes. Place them in a blender and add all the other ingredients, including the juice from all the lemons. Blend everything together, and you’re done. If you don’t want the juice this thick, you can easily dilute it with water.
Honey is not necessary
A little honey will certainly benefit children, but you can also choose any other sweetener. Maple syrup or agave syrup are excellent options. Xylitol works well, too. It depends on how sweet you want the lemonade to be. Often, the watermelon itself and its natural sweetness are enough.
