A halved potato in the bathroom. Set the perfect trap

An ordinary potato can literally work wonders. No, we’re not talking about the potatoes commonly used in the kitchen. Sure, things like chips, boiled potatoes, mashed potatoes or perfectly velvety mashed potato are among the delicacies that lift your spirits. But a potato can be used in a completely different way. In the bathroom, for example. Simply cut it in half and leave it in a corner of the bathroom. It will become the perfect trap for creatures you really don’t want in your bathroom.

The perfect silverfish trap works

These are small, inconspicuous creatures that simply find their way into the bathroom or toilet. They’re usually active in the evening and at night. When you go to the toilet or into the bathroom and come across a silverfish, it’s certainly not a pleasant experience. That’s another reason why it’s worth setting a trap using potatoes. Silverfish feed on starch and sugars. Thanks to this, they get caught in the trap very quickly. After all, potatoes contain a large amount of starch and, no doubt, sugars too. Preparing such a trap is very simple.

How to make a homemade silverfish trap

It couldn’t be simpler. Just take a potato and cut it in half. Once you’ve done that, hollow out a small hole in the centre of the potato. A depth of just 1 cm is enough. You can then place this trap in a corner of the bathroom and leave it there overnight. The silverfish are sure to get caught. If you also place a sheet of aluminium foil underneath the trap, it’ll make it harder for them to escape and they won’t stand a chance. In the morning, simply clear it away and you’re all sorted. You can easily repeat this trick several times in a row.

Tip: All it takes a few leafs. Herb make potato storage more effective.

No chemicals or toxic substances

The great thing about this method is that you don’t need any chemicals at all. So you can forget about any toxic effects. It’s also important to note that you should combine this trap with regular bathroom cleaning. Silverfish also feast on bits of soap and any leftovers found in the bathroom.
