Are mosquitoes bothering you? These old tricks will definitely help
The temperatures outside are truly summer-like now. On the one hand, this is great news, since we can head outside—to the pool, for example. On the other hand, summer also comes with some annoyances. For instance, various insects tend to multiply. Mosquitoes, in particular, are a summer staple. Their negative impact is quite clear. We’re all familiar with mosquito bites. Those unpleasant, itchy bumps are clear proof of that. Getting rid of mosquitoes in your home isn’t exactly an easy task. In the following paragraphs, we’ll take a look at which old tricks actually work.
Skip the repellents
That’s right. There are plenty of different repellents on the market that promise guaranteed results. However, they often contain substances that are harmful to us, as well as to children and pregnant women. Examples of such substances include rebomid, oxamate, carboxamide, diethyltoluamide, and many others. In any case, it’s better to rely on older, tried-and-true tricks.
You can easily make your own essential oil
Sure, plants like eucalyptus, anise, and carnation are ones that mosquitoes simply can’t stand. All you need to do is apply essential oils from these plants to a cotton swab, which you can then place on a windowsill or other spots. Mosquitoes absolutely hate cloves. This spice is inexpensive and works as an excellent remedy against bites. Just mix 5 g of cloves with a cup of plain water. Let it boil for 15 minutes, then let it cool. Mix a few drops of this liquid with alcohol and rub it on specific parts of your body. Mosquitoes won’t dare to bite you.

Elderflower and chamomile as excellent pepellents
Elderflower is excellent. They’re currently in bloom. But if you want to use them against mosquitoes, they don’t necessarily have to be in bloom—they still contain effective repellent substances. Another flower worth mentioning is chamomile. Dried flowers, stems, and leaves are an excellent remedy against mosquitoes. If you hang the flowers by your door or elsewhere, they won’t detract from the appearance of the room.
