The preparation of various dishes in the garden is quite a big spring attraction. Such barbecues are undoubtedly worthwhile. Skewers, tenderloins or other dishes are absolutely delicious and definitely worth it. But we’ve taken to grilling a whole chicken. In the following lines, we will tell you what spices were used, how long we grilled the chicken and some other tips and tricks that relate to grilling the chicken itself. You will be able to see the result for yourself, it’s just a pity that you can’t taste it online.

Easy to marinate chicken

The first thing to do is to marinate the chicken in the seasoning. If you do this a day in advance, you certainly won’t go wrong, quite the contrary. We didn’t have time, so we marinated the chicken just before grilling. To make a very simple marinade we needed:

  • 1 bag of barbecue seasoning,
  • 4 tablespoons of oil,
  • 2 teaspoons of minced dried garlic.

We mixed all the ingredients and then rubbed the marinade over the chicken. It was basically completely orange. It’s not a bad thing if the marinade is a bit more liquid, it will give you more juice.

Grilling the chicken

It is very important to get the grill properly hot. Always heat the coals with a heat gun. Basically, almost the entire firebox must be grey in the final colour. The coals must be hot enough to roast the chicken perfectly. The chicken must be rotating all the time and not stopping, otherwise it can burn very quickly, which of course we do not want. At first, cover the grill with foil so that the temperature inside is higher. We also regularly brush the chicken with the marinade, which drips into the bottom of the grill.

Fries as an ideal side dish

As a side dish, we chose oven-baked sweet potato and potato fries. Their preparation is very simple. Just cut the potatoes and sweet potatoes lengthwise into fries. We added a little salt and classic rapeseed oil. Then we spread the fries on a baking sheet and baked them in the oven. We also prepared a classic cabbage salad with the chicken.
