You know how it is. You’re trying to peel potatoes, but it’s not going very well. Often, along with the peelings, bits of potato end up in the compost or the bin – bits that you could otherwise eat without any trouble. Often, the skin of boiled potatoes sticks to the potatoes themselves and simply won’t come off no matter what you do. It’s often much the same when peeling garlic. That can also be incredibly tedious and annoying. Yet there are simple tricks that make these tasks easier. What are they? We’ll reveal them to you in this article. But we’ll also share some other kitchen magic.

Peel boiled potatoes in a flash

All it takes is a very simple and quick trick. Quite simply, make a cut round the middle of the tubers all the way round. Then just boil them in water as you always do. Once you’ve taken them out of the water, the skin will come away from the tuber very easily. It will already be partly peeled away.

Peeling garlic won’t annoy you any more

Peeling garlic isn’t exactly a task anyone enjoys or looks forward to. Nevertheless, it’s a traditional part of cooking, and you simply can’t do without garlic when preparing many dishes. It’s best to soak the cloves a little. The skin will then come off more easily. If you also press a knife against the clove, it will break the skin slightly, which will help too. After that, it’s often not even necessary to crush it.

How to peel ginger quickly

You hardly even need a knife. All you need is an ordinary teaspoon, which you can simply use to peel the ginger. Its skin isn’t so tough that it can’t be done.

Tip: How to store garlic. Its simple.

How do you get the juice out of a lemon?

It’s very simple. Roll the lemon gently across the worktop. This will compress it and break up the flesh inside. Then simply use a skewer to make a hole in the lemon and squeeze it gently. The juice will then flow out. When it stops flowing, cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice out over your hand so that the seeds stick to your hand.
