Now is the time to plant garlic

Garlic grown in your own garden is definitely the best, right? Growing garlic at home is very popular and many people cannot wait for the ideal time to start planting. Well, the right time is when the first frosts are slowly approaching. Garlic needs to take roots but it cannot grow too much as it would freeze later. The best approach is to follow the weather forecast closely and start planting three weeks before the freezing weather comes. Anyway, it looks like the right time is approaching fast.

Protect garlic from parasites

Of course. Garlic soaking is very important and it is done in many countries. Soaked garlic is able to avoid various diseases and parasites. If you do not want to buy soaking products, you can make a simple homemade solution. This little trick is almost free because you will be using a regular salt, i.e. sodium chloride. Salt offers excellent disinfectant properties.

A simple salt solution

You need one tablespoon of salt and 1 litre of warm water and that is it. When all salt has completely dissolved, divide garlic bulbs into individual cloves and soak them for about 20 minutes. When done, take all cloves out and let them dry completely.

Planting

When the right time arrives, you can start planting. Make sure that the root part is facing down. Plant about 8 cm apart and leave 20 cm between each row. Cover garlic with a layer of fallen leaves or peat for the winter.
