Poisonous foods for dogs.

It is not true that everything you eat you can also give to your dog. The times when dogs used to finish leftovers from their owners tables are gone. Well, almost. Many breeders know very well that a dog needs a special dog food as some type of human food can be dangerous and harmful to dogs. Sometimes your dog may only have small digestive problems, but sometimes it may be a life-threatening situation! Foods that contain the following ingredients you should never give to your dog!

Garlic

Garlic contains allicin, which is why garlic is so healthy for humans. Not for dogs. Garlic can cause anaemia in dogs and therefore deterioration of a dog’s health. An unaware owner will be puzzled by the poor dog’s health. Garlic may be used in dishes where you would not expect it so, it is better not to feed your dog with any human food. Onions, chives, or leeks also contain allicin.

Salt and spices

Spicy food is not good for your pet’s stomach. Some types of spices (even in small amounts) may irritate the stomach and intestines to the point of causing serious health problems. Salt is also dangerous (for both humans and dogs) as it supports the development of hypertension in dogs. If your dog gets used to a spicy diet with salt it will develop cardiovascular system and kidney problems sooner or later. If left untreated, dog’s kidneys may fail.

Cocoa

Almost everyone knows that chocolate is toxic to dogs, especially in large amounts. But it’s not just chocolate. Do not give your dog anything that contains cocoa. This includes chocolate products and other sweets. Before sharing a treat with your dog, make sure you know what it contains. Cocoa contains theobromine, which can damage a dog’s nervous and circulatory system and can even lead to death. Foods containing birch sugar, or xylitol have the same negative effect.

Grapes and raisins

Dogs can generally eat fruit (if they like it), and it may even be beneficial. Apples, pears, melons, bananas, and blueberries are ideal. But watch for grapes and raisins. These are poisonous to dogs and may cause an acute liver and kidney failure.
