Fertilizer you have at home but do not know about
Homemade fertilizers often offer the same benefits as commercial fertilizers but homemade fertilizers are much cheaper and friendly to the environment and our health. So, what can you use as a fertilizer?
Teabags
Brew your tea and then use the teabag to fertilize your plants. Green or black tea is best, but you can use any kind. Bury the content of the bag in the soil near your plants and water it.Be careful though – if you do too much, the strong aroma of tea may attract flies.

Eggshells
First, let eggshells dry out completely and then grind or crush them into a powder. Sprinkle powder on the surface in a pot or mix the powder with water (one teaspoon of shells per one litre of water) and water your plants with the mixture.
Wood ash
Ash is good for both outdoor and indoor plants and will not attract any flies. Wood ash is also used as a preventive measure against plant diseases. Pour a large spoonful of ash into a container filled with hot water and stir occasionally. Let it sit for about a week and stir occasionally. Water plants with this solution once every ten days.
Iodine
Iodine is commonly used for wounds, but it can also help you to take care of geraniums. Iodine promotes production of flowers. Mix one drop of iodine in one litre of water. Use 50 ml of this mixture to water one flower pot. Do not overdo it because iodine can burn roots.
Walnut shells
We all throw nutshells out automatically, right? Not this time. Crush shells well to make a fine crush and you have a homemade fertilizer for indoor and outdoor plants. Take crushed shells of approximately three nuts put them in a container and pour hot water in. Let it sit for a day. Use it the next day to water your plants.
Apples
If you have plenty of apples that you cannot consume, use them as fertilizer. Chop one kilogram of apples put them in a container and pour five litres of water in and let it sit for two days. When done, water plants with this infusion. Christmas cactus or bottle cactus (hatiora) love this stuff.
Potatoes
Salt-free water where you boiled potatoes may be used as a fertilizer. Simply water your plants with it. A good idea is to dilute the potato broth with more water before using it.
Gelatine
Gelatine is a somewhat controversial fertilizer. Pour one tablespoon into a litre of hot water and mix thoroughly. After cooling, add another litre of water. You can water all plants with green leaves, such as spider plant (Chlorophytum), dracaena or ficuswith this mixture. Be careful with the amount though and do not use too much. Repeat after three months.
